SCREAMING HEADLESS TORSOS

Screaming Headless Torsos is back with a vengeance touring and showcasing their highly anticipated album,”Code Red”, and their 2017 collaboration with jazz pianist Hiromi (Concord Telarc). Code Red produced by Gregg Fine and featuring two tracks produced by 14-time Grammy Award winning rock producer, Ron Saint Germaine. “Code Red” was given 4 stars by Rolling Stone Magazine and was a top pick by Playboy and Warp magazine. Indie Rocks Magazine ranked “Code Red” as one of the top 100 CD’s of 2014. The Big Takeover Magazine wrote “Far from any hardline pop sensibilities, Code Red breaks down musical barriers and invites us all to join in the fun of Screaming Headless Torsos.”

After a 9 year hiatus, “Code Red” is the first full SHT album to be released and the first album to feature vocalist Freedom Bremner (Moby, D’Tripp). “Code Red” hosts a roster of guest artists including James Valentine, guitarist of Maroon 5 fame, Bernie Worrell, keyboard legend of Parliament Funkadelic, and on vocoder synth, Casey Benjamin, 2013 Grammy-winner from the Robert Glasper Experiment.
Screaming Headless Torsos is and will always be the genre-bending rock band founded by guitar virtuoso, professor, and Guggenheim Fellow, David Fiuczysnki. “Fuze” is a self-described musical hunter & gatherer, a jazz musician that doesn’t want to play jazz. The Torsos began there career in the big-label system of the 90’s and have since re-invented themselves as an indie-rock band. Their debut album, “Screaming Headless Torsos” (Warner/Discovery 1995) was described by Musician Magazine as “brilliantly blending jazz know-how with a love for heavy riffs.” Guitar Player wrote that [SHT] “combines a hip handle on high culture with a wicked knack for the raw groove.” It was followed by “SHT Live “ (1996), “Torsos 2005” (2005) and “Choice Cuts” (2006), all of which showcased a blend of funk-rock abandon, thought provoking lyrics, just the right amount of improvisation, and a hunger to explore prog-rock, soul, jazz, roots reggae, hip-hop, and all manner of groove. Fuze and the band continue to expand their collective universe, most notably with Fuze incorporating middle eastern and asian microtonal music into the SHT experience.
SHT is celebrating 20 years of making the avant pop, funk rock creations that thrill their fans and inspired many of the young lions playing on the scene today. For the last 6 years the Torsos have been connecting face to face with new fans, outside the States, touring heavily in Europe and South America, and being welcomed by the explosion of progressive rock and jazz-funk hybrids throughout the Latin World. Torsos has played some of the most popular festivals in Latin America including the largest indie rock festival in the Americas, Vive Latino 2011 in Mexico City, Jazz Al Parque 2012 in Bogota Colombia, The National Theater of Ecuador in 2013, the Tonica Jazz Festival 2014 ,followed by a 16 city European Tour (2014) and a 10 city tour of Spain in 2015. Now the band is hitting the road aggressively in the U.S. and returning to the progressive rock jazz-jam band world that they helped create almost 20 years ago, performing at festivals like Boston’s Beantown Jazz Festival, and New Jersey’s Beardfest. SHT has never stopped making new music and taking new chances. New projects are in the works and exciting collaborations on the horizon. Keep an ear out, keep a foot out too, whatever body part you shake when the groove, the grease, and the grey matter take over. Torsos is comin'.
